Free Psychotherapy and Mental Health Support Program
A safe step toward your mental wellbeing
FreeTherapy.gr provides free psychotherapy sessions for individuals facing financial difficulties, including students, people on lower incomes, and, more generally, those for whom the cost of therapy may make accessing psychotherapy difficult. Sessions are provided by postgraduate-level trainee therapists completing their clinical placement, with ongoing clinical supervision from qualified professionals.

Through the program, clients receive support completely free of charge while also making a meaningful contribution to the training of emerging therapists and mental health counsellors, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable experience and take their first steps into the profession.

The availability of both the client and the trainee therapist is also taken into consideration to ensure compatible days and times for sessions.

Regular and consistent attendance
- Frequency
- Once a week, same day and time
- Minimum duration
- Six months
- Absences
- Up to three (3) per six-month period
Sessions are generally scheduled once a week, on the same day and at the same time. Where a client works rotating shifts, alternative scheduling may be arranged through timely communication with the trainee therapist.
A maximum of three (3) absences per six-month period is permitted. Exceeding this limit will result in discontinuation from the program. Consistent attendance is essential not only to the therapeutic process, but also to the trainees' clinical placement. Regular attendance is required so that their clinical practice hours can be recognised as part of their training program.
If you know that you are unable to commit to regular weekly attendance, or to the necessary communication required when working rotating shifts, this particular program may not be suitable for you.
When the program isn't the right fit
- The program is not an immediate or emergency mental health support service. Session availability may vary and there may be a waiting list.
- Some cases require a higher level of clinical experience or more specialised support and cannot be safely undertaken within the program.
- If you know you cannot commit to regular weekly attendance, this program may not be suitable for you.
If during the initial assessment we determine that your needs cannot be appropriately supported by a trainee therapist, we will explain this clearly and, where possible, help refer you to another mental health professional.
